That Was Then Then This Is Now Cincy is a great local radio show hosted by Bree Blisters on WVQC.org. She recently had us on as guests, as well as our good friend George Marshall Jenkins IV. Listen to it here.

RECORDING

JC4 recorded a few songs with Steve Wethington on 12.19.10 in Cincinnati, OH. Due to budget and time factors, the recording will be kept to a very basic format but we are very pleased with the way it turned out. I think it will serve as the best possible representation of our current material and the songs probably sound better than we could replicate in a live format. Hopefully we'll be finished mixing and mastering by the end of January.

I don't think we're going to go nuts on the packing and distro end. Initially, I hope to burn a hundred or so for quick hand-outs (free) and then will pass it off to Dustin for some kind of limited-run packaging, likely a hand-screened jacket in collaboration with our friend Nick Alley. Sometime in between, I'll upload the songs to Bandcamp for free download.

HIATUS

Why are we rushing to get the recording done? Unfortunately, I will have to put the project on indefinite hiatus in early or mid February. I got called down to the Bigs, so to speak, and will be moving to Florida to work for the family business. From a personal life standpoint, I'm bummed because this has been the most enjoyable music project I've ever done. From a reality standpoint, obviously, you can't make a living playing music as a casual hobbyist. Long story short, my job here sucks and this is a chance to make a living and not be miserable doing so.

RADIO

Thursday January 6th, some representation of the JC4 will be present on "That Was Then This Is Now Cincy" with host Bree Blisters on Cincinnati's WVQC 95.7 FM. You can find links to the show and WVQC on one of our prior blog entries (I think it's a couple before this one). The program starts at noon (eastern) and you will likely have to stream the audio via MS Media or iTunes. Information on doing so can be found on WVQC's site. We'll hopefully be playing one or two of the new recordings and should be able to bring some old school Northern Kentucky punk rock recordings that have not been heard in over a decade.

Aside from tonight's show at Fort Mitchell Sports Bar (9pm, Fort Mitchell KY with Strands of Red), we have a couple more lined up which will likely be the last ones for a while.
